Grant Bierschbach, a Tri-Cities native, has been playing cello for 20 years. He performs regularly with regional ensembles, including the Mid-Columbia Symphony, Mid-Columbia Mastersingers, Walla Walla Symphony and Oregon East Symphony. Grant started piano lessons at age 9, then picked up the cello at age 10 and played in the school orchestra. As a teen, Grant studied cello privately with Walla Walla University cello instructor Benjamin Gish. Grant graduated from Cornell College in Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosphy and a minor in Music. He studied cello with James Ellis and, as principal cellist of the Cornell College Orchestra (2003 to 2007), Grant toured Italy in 2005, performing in various cities throughout the country. In 2008/2009 Grant continued his cello studies at Central Washington University with John Michel and was the principal cellist of the Central Washington University Symphony Orchestra.
At Magnolia Music Studio, Grant teaches cello lessons for all ages and levels (beginning to advanced.) He is also available to teach combination cello/beginning piano lessons.
